DENA SCHWEITZER, RPR
Born and raised in Cairo, Nebraska, I grew up in a community of 750 people. After high school, I attended the Denver Academy of Court Reporting in Denver, Colorado, where I earned my court reporting degree in 2003.
I began my career in Denver at a freelance firm, spending my first year gaining experience while newly married to my husband, Brian, in 2004. We later returned to Nebraska, where I continued my freelance career with Thomas & Thomas Court Reporters for 14 years. In 2018, I transitioned into official reporting and joined the Douglas County District Court, where I’ve had the privilege of serving as the official court reporter for Judge Horatio Wheelock for the past eight years.
Brian and I have two children, Kastyn and Kruz, who keep us joyfully busy. Much of our free time is spent supporting their activities—Kruz's wrestling and baseball (and plenty of travel for tournaments), and Kastyn's dance, including studio dance and team dance competitions. Our family calendar is full, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
I've loved being a court reporter for all these years, I and am honored to serve on the NeCRA board. I look forward to helping our profession continue to grow and evolve and for all the opportunities ahead.
