Tina Nelson, RPR, RMR, CRR, CSR (Iowa)HEL/HRO-E! I’m excited to serve as the 2022-2023 Vice President of NeCRA, to advance our association and be of service to you, our members. I am originally from Jackson in northeast Nebraska, but I have called Omaha home for the past 20 years. The road that led me to court reporting was not straight, but it did lead me to this wonderful career. After attending Wayne State for two years, a bachelor’s degree program began at Westmar College in LeMars, IA. My parents gave me that forceful nudge that only parents can give, and I made the switch after my sophomore year at Wayne. After 2 ½ years at Westmar, I enrolled at Stenotype Institute of South Dakota in Sioux Falls to finish speed classes. That took ten months, and those credits transferred back to Westmar where I obtained my bachelor’s in applied science in court reporting. My first employment was in Lincoln with Northrop & Fauber covering Lancaster County Juvenile Court. After six months, I moved back home and began working as a freelancer at Kennedy & Kennedy in Sioux City, IA, and then Schuetts Reporting throughout the 1990s. After one year in Indianapolis, IN, at Circle City Reporting, I returned to Sioux City in August 2000. In January 2003 I made the move to Omaha and began working at Matheson, Taulborg, Denney & Schleife. Since 2018 I have been one of four owners, and it is now known as MTDS Reporters. When not working on transcripts or entertaining my dog, Piper, I enjoy volunteering for local animal-related causes, boating in the summer at Lewis and Clark Lake in Yankton, cheering for the Creighton Bluejays basketball team in the winter and traveling, near and far. |
