NEBRASKA
COURT REPORTERS
ASSOCIATION

Together we are STRONGER.

MARY LOU HARMON, RPR, CRR

Hello Fellow Reporters!

I was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I attended Stenotype Institute of South Dakota after graduating from high school in 1986.I truly had no idea what it meant to be a court reporter or even how lucrative the profession would be. It sure sounded intriguing, and who doesn't want to "play" with this odd-looking machine!

Lucky for me, stenography turned out to be a skill that I learned rather quickly. After two years of mastering the speeds and the coursework, I obtained employment with Barnes Reporting in Omaha, Nebraska, which was, to me, quite far from friends and family. After four years working with Gary Barnes, I decided to purchase my own equipment and start working from home with Thomas & Thomas. I am in my 35th year of reporting, and I still love the challenges this career has to offer.

In my free time, and after raising three children with my husband, Joel, I enjoy finding time to travel, cook, bike/hike, and in any way get outside and enjoy the great outdoors.

As the freelance representative for NeCRA, I hope to recruit and build our membership base of freelance reporters.
